The cold weather is here! Please send your children in layers, as the temperatures have definitely dropped! Remember to label outerwear so that it does not become a member of our ever growing Lost & Found. Speaking of the Lost & Found, please be sure to stop by school and pick up any missing items. All items left in the Lost & Found will be donated on December 19th.
In classrooms
Our school works as a Professional Learning Community (PLC). Our mission is to work collaboratively to guarantee that ALL Murwood students learn at high levels. We are redesigning a system that was never created for equity among ALL students. By creating grade level essential standards, we are shifting from a focus on teaching to a focus on learning.
This work means that teachers meet weekly to analyze data, plan for student learning and evaluate progress. You may have heard your child(ren) talk about WIN (What I Need) Time, in which teachers work with focused small groups within their class or between grade level teachers on targeted skills to strengthen and extend student learning.
Today, our Instructional Leadership Team participated in Instructional Rounds, observing classroom instruction in grades TK-5. Instructional Rounds are a tool to help a school to use live data, in real time, to help a school come up with shared school wide goals. The process is non-evaluative, and helps us think of school-wide implications and how to improve the school as a whole.
We have such incredible learning happening every day at Murwood, and I’m continually inspired by the dedication and collaboration of our staff. Our team is excited to keep growing together so we can provide the very best for our students.
Every day is a great day to learn at Murwood!

This Wednesday, Dec. 3, our goal is to raise $10,000 to support our schools—and thanks to two generous parent-led businesses, Fiscal Founders and Vinteige, donations will be graciously matched dollar-for-dollar up to $3,500 amplifying the impact for over 5,000 students.
Fiscal Founders, founded by Tice Creek parent Ramandeep Shergill, specializes in empowering small businesses with expert financial guidance. As a hands-on finance leader with nearly 20 years of financial and accounting expertise, Ramandeep collaborates with businesses to design practical, scalable financial solutions, offering fractional CFO and Controller services that provide the expertise of a large corporation with a personalized approach.
Vinteige, founded by Tice Creek parent Sabrina Abu-Hamdeh, brings unique, handcrafted home décor that inspires creativity and warmth. Her mission is to revive quality vintage pieces that complement and enhance a variety of modern design styles, while reducing environmental impact through re-use.
We are excited to partner with Fiscal Founders and Vinteige! Let’s come together to unlock the full match and support our schools!

The first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, was designated “Giving Tuesday” in 2012 with the simple vision of bringing people within a community together to contribute toward building a better world. What better day than Giving Tuesday to support Walnut Creek public schools and our amazing students! And if Tuesday doesn’t work for you, we have set 12/1-12/5 as the Week of Giving , so you have the whole week to help us reach out fundraising goals!
Whether it’s a one-time donation or a monthly contribution, every dollar you give to WCEF helps to provide critical resources for student success and to ensure a comprehensive education for all.
